Bihar SIR: SC to hear final arguments today
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The Supreme Court on Tuesday is set to hear pleas related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls for Bihar, first time after the release of the final electoral rolls.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi will hear the final arguments on the validity of Bihar SIR while refusing to offer any “any piecemeal opinion” on the exercise.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sept 30 released the final electoral rolls in Bihar with nearly 7.42 crore names on the completion of the special intensive revision of the list.
In the last hearing on September 15, 2025, the Supreme Court said it was presuming the ECI, being a constitutional authority, was following the law during the SIR of the electoral roll and cautioned that in case of any illegality, the exercise would be set aside.
