Gangaur Teej festival celebrations come to a close in Rajasthan

JAIPUR [Maha Media]: Today marks the end of the Gangaur Teej festival, a major cultural event in Rajasthan and parts of North India. This festival honors Goddess Gauri (Parvati) as she leaves for her husband, Lord Shiva's home. The festival concludes an 18-day period of fasting and prayer.

-Grand Processions: In cities like Jaipur, a grand procession featuring the idol of Goddess Gauri will take place through the historic Old City in the evening.
-Boat Procession in Udaipur: At Lake Pichola, people will carry idols to Gangaur Ghat and place them on decorated boats for a special water celebration.
-Immersion (Visarjan): After the processions, women will carry decorated clay idols of Isar (Shiva) and Gauri to nearby water bodies for immersion, marking the end of the festival.
-Feasts and Sweets: Families will break their fast with traditional Rajasthani foods, especially Ghewar, a special sweet for this occasion.

The day celebrates marital harmony. Married women pray for their husbands' long life, while unmarried girls seek blessings for finding good life partners. The spirit of community and devotion shines throughout the region.
