Prez Murmu prays at Danghati Temple in Mathura

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: President Droupadi Murmu prayed at the Danghati Temple in Govardhan here on Saturday, the third day of her Uttar Pradesh visit, official sources said.

The president participated in the aarti of Giriraj Ji Maharaj and did the Govardhan Parikrama.

Danghati temple receiver Deep Chandra Kaushik said that amid chants of "Giriraj Dharan ki Jai" and other hymns, the president performed a 'mahabhishek' using 11 kg of milk, curd, honey, ghee and powdered sugar.

Goverdhan Hill has great religious significance as it is associated with Lord Krishna. The full circle of Govardhan is 21 kilometres, and the major sites, which come during the Parikarma, include Danghati Temple, Radha Kund, Shyam Kund, Kusum Sarovar, and Jatipura.
 
The three-day visit of President Murmu to Uttar Pradesh began on Thursday with the darshan of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya. After that, she offered prayers at Iskcon temple and the Prem Mandir in Vrindavan.
 
The President also inaugurated the new Oncology Block of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, which is aimed at strengthening cancer care facilities in the region.
