Panchak of the May Month starts today
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: In Hindu religion, before doing any auspicious work, an auspicious time or mahurat is determined first so that auspicious results are achieved of the hard work.
The auspicious time of every month is mentioned in astrology. Similarly, there is an inauspicious time in every month in which any kind of auspicious activities are prohibited.
Panchak is among those inauspicious times. Panchak falls every month. This is a period of 5 days in which doing any auspicious work is prohibited. April is about to end, and May will begin in a few days. Let us therefore, know when Panchak will take place in the month of May and which auspicious works are prohibited during the Panchak period.
When is Panchak in May?
According to the Hindu calendar, Panchak in the month of May will start on May 2 at 2:32 pm. At the same time, it will end on May 6 at 5:43 pm. People will be prohibited to do any auspicious work during the period from 2nd to 6th May. During this period, the festival of Monthly Shivratri, Pradosh Vrat and Ekadashi will also be celebrated.
However, according to the scriptures, no auspicious work is done during Panchak but the same has no effect on worship or fasting. Therefore, in such a situation, one can worship during these three fasts without any hindrance.
What should not be done in Panchak?
1. According to astrology, construction work of a house should not be started in Panchak period. Apart from this, molding the roof of the house is also considered inauspicious.
2. One should not bid farewell to their daughter-in-law or daughter during the 5 days of Panchak. This may cause problems for them in future.
3. A new cot should not be made even by mistake in the 5 days of Panchak. This is considered inauspicious and can cause all kinds of problems.
4. Burning of dead bodies should be avoided during Panchak days. Doing this has a negative impact. If someone dies during the Panchak period, then five effigies of the dead body should be made of flour or Kush and kept with the bier and then cremated as per the rituals.
5. One should avoid travelling in the south direction even by mistake during Panchak days. There is a possibility of an accident if one does this.
How many types of Panchak are there?
There are 5 types of Panchak in Hindu religion. Among these, the Panchak starting on Monday is called Raj Panchak, the Panchak starting on Tuesday and Thursday is called Agni Panchak, the Panchak starting on Friday is called Chor Panchak, the Panchak starting on Saturday is called Mrityu Panchak and the Panchak starting on Sunday is called Rog Panchak. In May, Panchak will start from Thursday, hence it will be an Agni Panchak.
