Brahmachari Girish Ji greets everyone on Rishi Panchami
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: Hon’ble Chairman MVM Schools Group Brahmachari Girish Ji has conveyed his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Rishi Panchami on Wednesday.
In his message, Brahmachari Girish Ji said “Best wishes to all Indians on Rishi Panchami.”
Bhadrapada Shukla Panchami is known as Rishi Panchami and is usually observed two days after Hartalika Teej and one day after Ganesh Chaturthi.
Rishi Panchami is not a festival but a fasting day observed by women to pay obeisance to the Sapta Rishis which means seven sages and to get purified from Rajaswala Dosha.
Hinduism gives highest priority to purity and there are strict guidelines to maintain purity of the body and the soul. In Hinduism women are believed to be contaminated during their menstrual cycle. During menstrual cycle women are not allowed to enter in the kitchen for cooking, to participate in any religious activities and to touch any family members. Avoiding these guidelines creates Rajaswala Dosha. Rishi Panchami fasting is advised to get rid of Rajaswala Dosha.
Mythological Tales about Rishi Panchami
According to the mythological tales about Rishi Panchami, in Satyayuga, a Brahmin named Sumitra, who had deep knowledge about the Vedas, lived with his wife Jayashree.
They earned their living by farming. Their son's name was Sumati, who was a complete scholar and a very hospitable person. When their time came, both of them coincidentally died together. Jayshree was reborn as a bitch and her husband Sumitra was reborn a bull. Luckily, both of them started living in their son Sumati's house. Once Sumati performed Shraddha for his parents. His wife cooked kheer to feed the Brahmins, which was unknowingly spoiled by a snake. The bitch was watching this incident. Thinking that the Brahmins who eat the kheer will die, she herself touched the kheer. Enraged at this, Sumati's wife beat the bitch badly. He then cleaned all the utensils and made kheer again and fed it to the Brahmins and buried its pot in the ground. Because of this the bitch remained hungry that day.
When it was midnight, the bitch came to the bull and narrated the whole story to him. The bull said sadly - 'Today Sumati tied my mouth and plowed me and did not even let me graze on the grass. This is causing great pain to me too.'
Sumati was listening to both of them and came to know that the bitch and the bull were his parents. He then fed both of them a full meal and went to the sages and asked the reason for the reason why his parents' were born as animals and how could they find freedom from that.
The sages asked him to observe fast on Rishi Panchami for their salvation. As per the orders of the sages, Sumati observed Rishi Panchami fast with full devotion, as a result of which her parents were freed from their animal life.
