Guru Purnima: Honoring Our Teachers

Guru Purnima: Honoring Our Teachers

BHOPAL [Maha Media]: As Guru Purnima approaches, a special time to thank our teachers, the Maharishi Institutions around the world are getting ready for a big celebration. It's a way to honor the ancient tradition of students learning from their gurus, and to remember the huge impact of their founder, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

This year, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Sansthan will host a two-day festival on July 9 and 10, with celebrations led by Ved Vidya Martand Brahmachari Girish Ji. On the main day of Guru Purnima on July 10th, everyone will feel a sense of respect, thanks, and a renewed commitment to the ideas that help so many people live healthier, happier lives.

Guru Purnima is a Hindu festival celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Ashadha. It's a sacred day to show appreciation to spiritual and academic teachers. It’s a day for us to look within and truly thank our teachers for the invaluable wisdom and guidance they’ve given us. For the Maharishi family worldwide, this day is extra special. It's a time to thank Guru Dev, Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, who was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's respected teacher, and Maharishi himself. Maharishi brought ancient Indian wisdom, especially the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique, to people everywhere.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's teachings were based on ancient Indian wisdom. He focused on using spiritual knowledge in practical ways to make individual lives and the world better. He saw Guru Purnima as a day "full of pure knowledge," a day that "opens up all the possibilities of knowledge and makes the teacher-student relationship complete." His big goal was to create a "Heaven on Earth" by helping everyone reach their full human potential. Through the Transcendental Meditation technique, he gave people a simple, easy, and very effective way to find their inner peace, creativity, and intelligence.

The Maharishi Institutions, like the Maharishi Vidya Mandir schools and various Maharishi universities, are living examples of his vision. Their goal isn't just about academics; it’s about transforming lives. They aim to create global peace, bring enlightenment to every person, and make every nation strong and secure. They do this by using Consciousness-Based Education. This combines regular school subjects with the practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programs, helping to develop the whole person – their mind, body, and relationships.

This Guru Purnima, the celebrations at Maharishi Institutions will definitely show this complete approach. From traditional ceremonies to show respect for the guru, to presentations of what they've achieved over the year, and talks from important guests about the meaning of the Guru, the events will highlight how deeply Maharishi’s teachings have impacted lives.

In today's complex world, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's timeless message – that "Life is Bliss, Life is Perfect" – is more important than ever. The Maharishi Institutions, by teaching Consciousness-Based Education and sharing the Transcendental Meditation technique, continue to be guiding lights. They help people find more fulfillment, peace, and harmony in their lives.  As we honor our teachers this Guru Purnima, let us pledge not only to remember their lessons but also to live by their wisdom for the greater good of all.
