Argentina beat England 2-1 to reach FIFA WC final

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: In FIFA World Cup Football, defending champions Argentina defeated England 2-1 in the second semi-final at Atlanta Stadium in the United States to set up a title clash against Spain.

The first half ended goalless before Anthony Gordon put England ahead in the 55th minute. Argentina staged a dramatic comeback as Enzo Fernández equalised in the 85th minute, and Lautaro Martínez scored the winner in the 90th minute.

Argentina will now face Spain in the FIFA World Cup final on 19th July. The defending champions are aiming to retain the title they won in Qatar in 2022.

The matchup pits two traditional powers, who will meet at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Spain will be seeking its second World Cup title, having won its only championship in 2010.

Argentina is looking for its fourth World Cup and second in a row after winning in 2022. Should it win on Sunday, Argentina would become the first team to repeat as men's World Cup champions since Brazil in 1958 and 1962.

Lionel Messi has led the way for Argentina once again at this World Cup, scoring eight goals in seven games so far.

Spain took care of France 2-0 in its last-four match, surprisingly controlling a game against a side that had been dominant in the tournament previously.

La Roja have had a number of stars at the competition. Lamine Yamal has scored just once, but Mikel Ozarzabal has five goals to lead the attack.

Meanwhile, Spain's defense has been its biggest weapon at the World Cup, conceding just one goal through seven matches.
