India secure four medals in World Boxing Cup Finals

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: On the first day of the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025, held at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathak Sports Complex in Greater Noida, all four Indian boxers Minakshi, Preeti, Ankush Phangal and Narendra Berwal secured their spots in the semifinals by winning their respective matches.

With this, India's four medals were confirmed. The World Boxing Cup Finals feature the world's top-8 boxers.

In the 48kg category, World Champion Minakshi took control of the match from the very beginning. She won the match against Kazakhstan's Bolat Akbota with fast-paced and accurate punches.

In the 54kg category, Preeti kept Uzbekistan's former Youth World Champion Nagina Ukhtamova under pressure from start to finish. Thanks to her fast footwork and continuous combination punches, she registered a strong victory.

In the 80kg category, Ankush Phangal withstood the initial pressure from Japan's Go Wakaya. Then, increasing his pace with time, he executed excellent combinations, and every judge unanimously declared him the winner.

In the 90+kg category, Narendra Barwal defeated Ukraine's Andriy Khaletsky by 4:1. Despite a cut above his eye, he won the match with strong defense and powerful body-head punches.
