
Nobel Prize for Economics to be announced today
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Today, the Nobel Prize in Economics will be announced in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will announce it at 3:15 PM.
This award is given to economists whose research has made a significant contribution to understanding the economy and solving its problems.
The winner will receive 11 million Swedish Krona (10.3 crore rupees), a gold medal, and a certificate. If more than one economist wins, the prize money will be divided among them. The awards will be presented on December 10 in Stockholm.
According to media, contenders for the Nobel in Economics...
* Marine Bertrand and Sendhil Mullainathan- Professors at University of Chicago and MIT. Work - Researched racial and gender discrimination in the labour market, corporate governance, and behavioural economics.
* Nicholas Bloom- Professor at Stanford University. Work - Explained the impact of economic and political uncertainty (such as Brexit, Covid-19) on companies, employment, and economic growth.
* Marine Bertrand - Professor at Chicago Booth School. Work - Researched jobs, racial discrimination, and company management.
