Ukraine will not join NATO: Trump on eve of WH meet

EW DELHI [Maha Media]: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy can choose to end the war with Russia "almost immediately" or continue to fight, but retaking Russian-occupied Crimea or joining NATO are off the table, US President Donald Trump said late Sunday.

"President Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight," Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. "No getting back Obama given Crimea (12 years ago, without a shot being fired!), and NO GOING INTO NATO BY UKRAINE. Some things never change!!!" he added.

Trump's remarks came on the eve of a White House meeting with the Ukrainian president and European leaders. This is Zelenskyy's first visit to the Oval Office since the heated exchange with Trump earlier this year that ended in their talks being cut short, and also put a question mark on the US support for Ukraine.

Zelensky would first meet one-on-one with Trump before they are joined by European leaders, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte and EU chief Ursula von der Leyen, a European government source said, according to AFP.

"Big day at the White House tomorrow. Never had so many European Leaders at one time. My great honor to host them!!!," Trump said in another post on Truth Social.
