Chandra Grahan: Mantras for peace and harmony

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The second Upachaya Chandra Grahan of the year is all set to take place on the intervening night of June 5 and June 6. A Grahan is not considered auspicious according to the Hindu belief system. Therefore, people do not begin any new activity or venture on the day of Grahan. They also avoid stepping out of the house, and most importantly, adhere to the Sutak (fasting) timings hours before the Grahan begins.

Nonetheless, Upachaya Grahan does not have Sutak, because the Sun, the Earth and the Moon are not appropriately aligned. The entire Moon does not get darkened during the eclipse period. However, people can chant mantras to pray for general well-being and peace of mind.

Meaning:
