Grand procession of Shankaracharya marks the beginning of Maha Kumbh
PRAYAGRAJ [Maha Media]: A grand procession marked the arrival of Anant Shri Vibhushit Jyotishpeethadheeshwar Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati Ji at the Sangam confluence today. Thousands of devotees lined the streets to welcome the Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj and seek his blessings.
A majestic procession, led by the Shankaracharya, made its way through the city accompanied by hundreds of disciples from the Jyotish Peeth. The procession was graced by the special presence of Brahmachari Girish Ji, the head of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Sansthan.
The vibrant procession, marked by the rhythmic beats of bands, traversed various routes before culminating at the holy Sangam confluence. The Shankaracharya himself rode in a splendid royal chariot, bestowing blessings upon the countless devotees who lined the streets. The enthusiastic crowd showered the spiritual leader with flowers as a token of their reverence. Upon reaching the Sangam, Brahmachari Girish Ji extended a warm welcome to the Shankaracharya.
Brahmachari Girish Ji, in his address, said, "Under the guidance of Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj, Sanatan Dharma and Indian culture have left an indelible mark on the world. He said that the blessings of Shankaracharya will benefit millions of people during the Kumbh."
Swami Girish announced that the birth anniversary of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi will be celebrated as "Gyan Yug Diwas" on January 12 at the Maharishi Ashram in Prayagraj, with the Shankaracharya as the chief guest.
It is noteworthy that the Maha Kumbh, the world's largest spiritual congregation, will be held from January 13 to February 26. As per tradition, all Shankaracharyas, saints, and spiritual leaders have established their camps at the event.
The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Society has also set up a grand pandal where thousands of people will participate in religious and cultural programs every day.
