Divine discourse highlights Prahlad’s devotion at Maharishi Aashram

BHOPAL [Maha Media]: A profound spiritual discourse on the life of Prahlad, a devout devotee of Lord Vishnu, was delivered by the renowned spiritual leader, Badrish Ji Maharaj, at the Maharshi Ashram during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela.

Maharaj Ji emphasized that Lord Narasimha’s incarnation was a direct result of Prahlad’s unwavering devotion. He explained that the Lord manifests in whatever form and at whatever time a devotee desires, highlighting the divine power of pure devotion.

Using the analogy of a drowning disciple, Maharaj Ji illustrated how the feeling of helplessness and dependence on the divine is akin to the divine intervention. When the devotee's heart yearns for God, the Lord is ever-ready to appear.

The narrative then shifted to the harrowing ordeal of Prahlad, who was subjected to various tortures by his demon father, Hiranyakashipu. Despite facing immense suffering, Prahlad's faith in the Lord remained unshaken. When Hiranyakashipu challenged Prahlad to show him where his Lord resided, Prahlad pointed to the pillar, inviting the demon to strike it. As soon as Hiranyakashipu struck the pillar, Bhagwaan emerged in his ‘Narasimha’ half-lion, half-man avatar and vanquished the demon.

Impressed by Prahlad's unwavering devotion, Lord Narasimha offered him a boon. Prahlad, selfless and humble, declined, stating that those who seek anything in return for devotion are merely traders and not true devotees. Only after much insistence did Prahlad request the Lord to forgive his father. The Lord granted his wish, stating that the birth of a devotee in a family ensures the salvation of twenty-one generations.
Narada Muni further explained that the Lord bears no malice towards anyone. Even demons slain by the Lord attain divine realms, similar to sages.

Badrish Ji further said that the gods once ruled supreme in the heavens while the demons were left without a place to call home. To accommodate the demons, the divine creator fashioned a golden, impenetrable city between the celestial realms and the Earth. This city was adorned with a pool of nectar that granted immortality to its inhabitants, leading to a rapid increase in their population.

When the gods grew alarmed by the demons' growing power, Lord Vishnu, in the guise of a cow, and Lord Brahma, as a calf, infiltrated the demonic city. There, they consumed the entire pool of nectar, effectively neutralizing the demons' immortality. Subsequently, Lord Shiva, with a single strike of his trident, obliterated the entire city, which was known as Tripura. In recognition of this feat, Lord Shiva earned the epithet "Tripurari," meaning the destroyer of Tripura.
