Dhanteras 2023: Shubh Muhurat for Dhantrayodashi Puja

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The nation is buzzing with anticipation for Diwali, the Festival of Lights, which is scheduled to be celebrated with great traditional fervor on November 12 this year.

In numerous states, the Diwali festivities extend for five days, with Dhanteras marking the festival's commencement. Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi, often falls on the calendar two days before the grand Diwali celebration. Teras, the thirteenth day of the Kartik month during the waning phase of the moon's cycle, occurs two days prior to Diwali. This day is associated with the revered ancient sage Dhanwantari, often considered the founder of Ayurveda. On Teras, people embark on fresh ventures, especially those related to finances, seeking the blessings of Yamraj, the ruler of the afterlife (Yamlok) and the deity of death, Lord Kubera, the god of wealth, and Goddess Lakshmi, the divine embodiment of prosperity.

The purchase of silver and gold jewelry or utensils serves as a symbol of welcoming Goddess Lakshmi and represents the pursuit of wealth and abundance.
